If you are Christ follower, you are to be committed to “Live a life worthy of
the calling you have received.”(Ephesians 4:1.) At St. Matthias this is lived
out by gathering with other believers for worship on a regular basis, and
working within the body to help others by sharing the Gospel message of
Christ’s love: we are to speak it and take action to help those in need.
Missions (sharing the Gospel with other people-groups within our country
and other nations) and Outreach (helping those in need within our parish
and our local community) are an important commitment at St. Matthias. This
is done in part via the St. Matthias Mission & Outreach fund. One way our
mission and outreach fund is financially supported is through the sale of
GROCERY CARDS.
Two large grocery chains, Safeway and King Soopers/City Market, make
cards available to non-profits at a 5% discount and St. Matthias takes
advantage of this by purchasing a block of cards whenever needed. Thus,
when you buy a card for the face value of $50 or $100, St. Matthias receives
an IMMEDIATE income of 5%. Every $100 card sold produces a $5 gain for
the Missions and Outreach fund. These cards are easy to use and have no
restrictions: food, sundries, gasoline (at Safeway only), PLUS they make
wonderful gifts!
Where do you buy them? They are available for purchase EVERY SUNDAY
downstairs in the parish hall after worship. The Missions and Outreach fund
has done immeasurable good for others in years past. The income from the
Missons and Outreach fund will continue to honor our Christian calling and
values if you help by supporting the program and buying grocery cards as
frequently as possible.
